The SGS Dance Club has come a long way. While it used to be a Chinese Contemporary dance club in the past, now members find themselves grooving to Hip Hop and Modern Contemporary dance moves. Recently, our enrollment has been growing considerably, which has the dancers the ability to choreograph more intricate performances.
In 2017, the SGS dancers competed in SYF performing a new genre, Street Jazz. We are proud of our dancers for attaining Certificate of Accomplishment. The dancers also performed in the post-SYF celebration at United Square mall in conjunction with Youth Day, allowing the dancers a rare opportunity to perform for the public.
The SGS dancers also get the chance to perform in key school events. They also get to experience an inter-school dance camp at the end of every year. This gives them a great opportunity to interact with dancers from other schools, forging new friendships through dance while honing their skills.
Online Co-curricular activities (CCA)
The pandemic has brought much inconvenience to many, whether in the area of work, school or even family time. Despite this difficult period, the students of the Dance Club did not stop meeting another, practicing on our dance steps. In fact, with the guidance from the teachers and instructor, the pupils of the Dance Club choreographed and put up two virtual dance performances, to celebrate our nation’s birthday and Teacher’s Day on 9 August 2020 and 31 August 2020 respectively!
The pupils learnt and executed the dance steps online from our instructor, in the comfort of their individual homes. The video recordings were then ‘pieced’ into a final dance item. Please enjoy the dance performance, a tribute to Singapore!
