SGS Football aims to develop footballers who are disciplined, skilful and who demonstrate PRIDE values both on and off the pitch. Training sessions held every day of the week, are led by our coaches, Mr Selvakumar and Mr Salim Moin who are both former national players. SGS footballers pride themselves on training hard, playing beautiful football, and developing an undying thirst for victory, while always upholding the values of fair play as the Serangoon Garden Way.
Over the years, the boys were well rewarded for their indomitable spirit, such as when the B Division emerged 4th in the School Premier League Football Competition in 2017, while the C Division emerged 3rd in the Nationals in 2018.
We are equally proud of the following achievements of our students:
- Sakthivelchezian (4E4) and Putra Ahmed Danish (4A1) – recipients of the Singapore Olympic Foundation – Peter Lim Scholarship Award 2017
- Laken Limbu (4A1) – selected to represent Singapore in the FC Bayern Youth Cup in Munich
We forge ahead on the journey to help our soccer boys reach for the stars.
Online Co-curricular activities (CCA)
In view of the pandemic, the pupils were not able to carry out weekly training sessions in the school field. Instead, the teachers-in-charge organized a zoom session for the players. The intent was to check on the welfare of the pupils, while at the same time, discussed the theoretical aspects of the game.
We were happy to invite our alumni, Mohammad Hazzuwan Bin Halim, a soccer player when he was studying in SGS. He spoke with the boys, in depth, the strategies and skills needed to be better players on the field. He even motivated them to persevere, in times of difficulties, and helped one another wherever necessary. It was an engaging and meaningful session for the boys and teachers-in-charge.
